The Partnership of Intuition and Dreams

Cultural Dimensions of Dreaming
May 24, 2012 and May 31, 2012
Richard Russo is an author, editor, and dream educator. He is a past president of the International Association for the Study of Dreams and current editor of DreamTime, a publication of the IASD. As Chair of the IASD Arts Committee, he curated over fifteen exhibitions of dream-inspired art. Dream work in our society has focused on the personal meaning of the dream for the dreamer, but dreams also reveal what is happening in the culture around us. Richard Russo will discuss the difference between personal and “big” dreams, with examples including dreams about McCain and Obama collected during the 2008 presidential campaign. He will also describe Culture Dreaming, an
innovative method of dream sharing developed by him and Meredith Sabini at the Dream Institute of North America, whereby dreams are explored for their cultural meaning. Currently their Culture Dreaming sessions explore the nature of the “Great Turning” – the fundamental paradigm shift that our culture is undergoing .
